August is the month for dusting off the jam pan. So far the apples have started landing regularly on the lawn. Rather than waste these early fruits they have been transformed into ‘Spiced Apple Jelly’ with just a hint of the old favourite – Chilli! Without a greenhouse at the moment the chillies are slow and few, but the next project, since there are apples a plenty on the tree, is an apple press, it seems the best way to construct one is with a bottle jack and some stout timber, both of which are lying around in the shed! Whether cider is attempted or not rather depends on the juice – it might get drunk too quickly!

The dance of the trinity

This description of the Trinity is not new, it popped into my head quick enough when thinking about Sunday’s services!! I did however find this wonderful sermon on the subject, recklessly googling the line I came up with the Very Revd Alan Jones, a Londoner and Dean of Grace Cathedral – San Francisco his sermon is here

I shall unashamedly (quoting of course) have to borrow a little of that for Sunday as I explain the Rublev Icon of the Trinity.

Return to reality

Back for a reality check for a few days. This isn’t to last … off to clergy conference next week. As John says, everything seems to go wrong when you go away, well not so much for me, but life in the parish has become busy to say the least, even though we won’t be here!!!! Three days back in Cardiff was a bit of a strange experience – the food was probably the most strange – it was really good! Am enjoying three bars of Green & Blacks Maya Gold courtesy of Hermy 1 .
