I have a better notion, perhaps I’ll adhere to it next time… Pack carefully. Label each box, not just to its room or function, i.e. ‘kitchen’ or ‘books’ but closely to what it contains so that in six months if you need the widget for unwinding the sprocket on a push-bike you know which box it’s in! Then comes the move. And here is the important bit. DON’T UNPACK! Leave the carefully labeled boxes in the rooms to which they belong. When you need something, get it out of the box, when you are finished, put it away in its new home. Eventually and probably quite quickly, especially in the kitchen some boxes will empty, but others will not. After six months, anything that is left goes to the charity shop or to be recycled because if in six months you have not needed it, it is probably that you won’t for the following six months or years thereafter! On reflection, there is of course no need to move house to do this, just a lot of boxes – the boxes we have, the will to do it however…

As I entered the centre, all the past and the future was before me, memories long hidden came flooding to the fore, hopes dreams and expectations for the journey out. Grumbling aside – (don’t get me started on the weather… it’s called Holywell cloud apparently.) it is good to be settled in one place for a while at least, well, longer than last time anyway. It is also good to be starting working as well, no matter what people may say I am actually looking forward to it – don’t really know what I am supposed to be doing exactly just yet, however – I was browsing through some old college magazines and read something that one of the clergy from this diocese wrote about the beginning of ministry – mostly about it being like a goldfish bowl! – but it was about walking up and down the high street chatting, which in the end could take three of four hours. I know the parish she was in doing that, it was mine over the other side of North Wales, so knowing the size of that (small) and looking at the town centre, it should take me about a day to get the kids [...]

Well, no internet, no phone, nothing… Ahh bliss… Until you discover the joys of the local library. The last few weeks were pretty much a rollercoaster, emotional and moving speed. Dashing up and down between Cardiff and Holywell as if it were just down the road, popping into Amelia Farm to say goodbye was difficult, especially as I could only stay an hour! Not to mention returning to college a week after leaving to find it all the same as if no-one had left! very strange… Anyway were moved in, horses and all, well they only stayed for a day, but it was interesting while it lasted. The phone now works, but only in one room, the computer kind of works, but not without a disk which is still buried. Oh joy of moving house. I shall have to get used to being recognised in the street too!!
