Unfortunately the governments extra money for promoting cycling probably wont make it to Holywell, (it would have to include lifts for hills anyway!) I doubt it would speed up the return of the battery for the electric bike anyway – it has gone back for repair, already!!

The Electric bike is here – it’s got more gadgets and gizmos than Dot’s phone!! – if only that were possible

Isn’t it wonderful to connect with people and pick up where you left off?, even after a few years away – of course the good old internet helps – reflecting on an evening meeting with some old, some new, friends in Liverpool!

… of sunshine, (apart from the delightful parishoners comments after Sunday’s morning prayer service!!)

Since all it has done today was rain, (and on a funeral day too!!) it was nice to have some good news.

The RB in it’s wisdom has felt it appropriate (given the circumstances) to allow a slight change to the terms of the Car loan scheme, in favour of alternative transport. Would you believe it!! Well, the form is in the post, so as soon as the cheque arrives I shall be ordering the UM36, watch out traffic…

Car Loan

I was rather hoping not to have had such a conversation with the person who runs the car loan scheme, however, the issue of the electric bike is being pursued.

Probably the most annoying part of the conversation was ‘well it’s a car loan scheme’ to which I replied, ah, but it is only called that because that is the primary transport option for most people, what about a motorbike, to which I got the following reply, ‘oh, I don’t think it would cover that either, you see it’s a car loan scheme’.

I’m getting the distinct impression that ‘computer says no’ mentality may be operative here.

I got the point. Well he was only doing his job, with a little imagination you might expect the church to recognise such details as wanting to cause less pollution and save money. (The saving money question was the one which caused the biggest response.)

He has (all credit to him) taken up the challenge to widen the scheme from ‘car’ (cos it says so in black and white so there) to ‘form of private transport’, i.e. an electric bike.

We shall have to wait and see…

Provincial Car Loan Scheme

In the spirit of the A Rocha post below, I was wondering whether the car loan scheme might extend to ‘other forms of transport’. You see I have a car, I also have a bike, but the hills are really prohibative around here, notwithstanding the will and amount of effort I am putting in, it really is quite inconvinient to be cycling everywhere. However, there is a plan afoot.
