The hedgerows are teeming with life, most of it edible, we have so far (apart from the tree load of apples which our garden supplies) blackberries – loads, hedge garlic (still prolific) raspberry leaves for tea, haws for Haw-sin sauce and a few other bits and pieces. In a few weeks the elderberries will be ready, the damsons up the lanes will start to turn and it will be all hands to the preserving pan, if only the apples would stop falling long enough for us to pick some to put away!! The wheat is in, but not processed quite yet, it will have to be milled soon, ready for the beginning of October and the coming of the inevitable Harvest Thanksgivings. Stool Progress

Email mentioning ‘stool’ had much mirth…

Yes, carpentry not biology.

Anyway, progress.
half done stool Here it is so far. The weekend was a bit slow for cutting sanding etc. Last minute Iona meeting in Pilton (try getting there without a car!) on saturday. Of course a train journey to Bristol had its benefits, nothing better to do than read!

This is all slow progress, but slow is good, perhaps by the time I get round to the Zen, I will have organised my thoughts about the reading!

Mission

urgh It’s a word I detest, and yet (apparently) we need to be doing it… You see I just find that I cannot foist my opinions on someone else unless they ask. Am I too polite? ahh no! Is it that I am so weak in faith that I do not believe well enough to teach others? … Perhaps I don’t though have the mindless propensity to assert an opinion, which, in all honesty could be completely groundless. Lack of faith? No. Just love, oh and respect for human dignity and freedom of choice! When the soapboxers start with their chanting of religious ‘truths’ I switch off and think of the great commission in the Gospel of Matthew, and read the end of the verse which calls to teach what I have taught you. Where is this teaching? Back a few chapters…
