The hedgerows are teeming with life, most of it edible, we have so far (apart from the tree load of apples which our garden supplies) blackberries – loads, hedge garlic (still prolific) raspberry leaves for tea, haws for Haw-sin sauce and a few other bits and pieces. In a few weeks the elderberries will be ready, the damsons up the lanes will start to turn and it will be all hands to the preserving pan, if only the apples would stop falling long enough for us to pick some to put away!! The wheat is in, but not processed quite yet, it will have to be milled soon, ready for the beginning of October and the coming of the inevitable Harvest Thanksgivings. An important lesson

Remember always when volunteers are required in church to keep your head down and do not make eye contact!
I repeat, keep head down and do not make eye contact!
Making eye contact may result in bad things happening – like air guitar. No, not me, I kept my head down and didn’t make eye contact, a valuable lesson learned I think!

Eulogy

No not mine. Damn, some may say! But one given about a dear friend. He and his colleague were working amongst the youth of the church and when getting together remarked at how much the church needed to change and how it didn’t support those it ought. There were very aware of the shortcomings of the church It is just a shame, he said that they were not quite so aware of their own! Something to ponder for lent – be less cynical!
